Eaton, Ohio and the Crosswalk Cafe

The Crosswalk Cafe is located on Main St. in Eaton, Ohio. Eaton is a pretty little town, that looks much more prosperous than the surrounding rural areas. Eaton's houses and buildings in the main town area look much nicer than some of the run down buildings in the less dense areas.

Crosswalk Cafe is relatively gigantic. The proprietors are fans of scrapbooking, and have large posters explaining the title history of Crosswalk's building (it used to be a drugstore), and other historical themes of the town. The posters look like gigantic scrapbook pages.

Crosswalk has won a local award for best rehabilitation of a building.

There are three large rooms, arranged in a railroad flat style. The middle room is the most cozy. Luxurious upholstery includes a wingtipped couch with plenty of supportive springs. There are handknit and hand crocheted throws made of funky luxurious yarns, and filled bookcases, adding to the homey feel. There is also assorted audio equipment, presumably used for their Thursday open-mic nights.

A local baker supplies cookies. In celebration of Elvis Presley's birthday, the baker has provided peanut butter, banana, and bacon cookies for customers to sample. Delicious! And, an unusual combination.

Check out the Crosswalk Cafe of Eaton, OH! Right on Eaton's main strip, and across the street from a competitor cafe I'll definitely have to check out next time!

Downtown Eaton Business Association website is here.

I love Crosswalk! I first discovered it about two years ago when I went in to do the open mic on Thursday night. Since then I have played regular gigs there and recommended it to my friends who have put them on their regional and even national schedules. The coffee, the owners, the atmosphere are all great, but best of all is the audience that shows up, reverently listens and tips well. This place is full of some of the best music available, so stop by again, enjoy and help it along.
